LUCERNE VALLEY – The Lucerne Valley man lost his life after veering into opposing traffic and colliding with a cement truck on Tuesday night.
The traffic collision in the area of State Route 18 and Camp Rock Road was reported at around 11:13 p.m. CHP officials said that the man was heading to his Lucerne Valley home at the time of the collision. Early investigation found that the 2003 Chevy Silverado truck was traveling northbound on SR-18 when the collision occurred causing the man to be ejected from the vehicle.
The unidentified driver, who was not restrained in a seat belt at the time of the collision was pronounced dead at around 11:30 p.m. A passenger who the pickup truck at the time of the collision sustained only minor injuries. No other injuries were reported as a result of the collision. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the collision. The identity of the deceased man will be released when his family has been notified.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Anyone with any information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact Officer G Williams at the Victorville CHP at (760) 241-1186.
