One man died as a result of a traffic collision on the northbound 15 freeway north of Baker late Wednesday morning.
When the first responding CHP officers arrived they learned that a man was driving a tractor-trailer combination northbound on the I-15, north of Halloran Springs Road in the #3 lane. At the same time, woman was driving northbound on the I-15 in a minivan in the #2 lane of traffic behind the tractor-trailer combo.
For reasons that remain under investigation, the right front side of the minivan collided into the left rear of the tractor-trailer combo. The driver of the minivan sustained major injuries and was airlifted to UMC Las Vegas for the treatment of her injuries. The male passenger was pronounced deceased by emergency medical personnel at the scene.
The truck driver and the three juvenile passengers of the minivan were not injured as a result of the collision. Drugs and/or alcohol have been ruled out as a factor in the collision. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the CHP, Barstow area.
