HESPERIA – The man killed in a crash early Thursday morning was identified by Sheriff’s officials today as 29-year-old Osvaldo Garcia of Hesperia.
At around 5:10 a.m. Garcia was driving southbound on Hesperia Road near Santa Fe Avenue when his Chevrolet sedan and a Ford SUV hit head-on. The vehicle burst into flames, as deputies were en route to the traffic collision. The first deputies to arrive on the scene, with the help of motorists were able to pull the female passenger from the burning vehicle.
Additional deputies arrived at the scene, using fire extinguishers reduced the fire intensity so that Garcia, too could be pulled from the vehicle. Garcia was pulled from the vehicle but was unresponsive. Deputies and medical personnel administered CPR and continued their efforts on the way to Desert Valley Hospital. Garcia was pronounced dead at 6:14 a.m.
The female passenger and the female driver of the SUV both sustained moderate injuries and were airlifted to trauma centers. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department – Hesperia Station MAIT team.
