RIVERSIDE – A man was shot and killed after physically attacking his elderly mother and father on Sunday night. At around 8:40 p.m. the Riverside Police and the Fire Dispatch Center received several calls reference a shooting inside a home in the 3500 block of Timothy Way. When officers arrived they found the man later identified as Daniel Stewart suffering from gunshot wounds, which he eventually died of as a result of.
Police made contact with all of the people inside of the home and learned that the deceased man was an estranged son. He went to the house and there was a confrontation leading him to the attack on his elderly parents. An adult male, who was also at the home grabbed a gun and shot the son. The parents were rushed to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The adult male who shot the deceased man and a juvenile were detained by officers.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene and are being assisted by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Officer and Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner.
This investigation is ongoing and there are no other details available at this time. All parties involved in this incident are currently with detectives.
