LANCASTER – The Lancaster Sheriff’s Station received numerous reports of indecent exposure in a shopping center late last month.
The callers reported that the male subject was exposing his buttocks while walking in the area. When the deputy arrived he noticed that although the male subject was, in fact, exposing his buttocks he was not doing it purposely. The man had on very old and worn out pants. In addition to the major wear, the pants had a large hole in the back causing the exposure.
“Rather than give him a ticket, which would only add to this man’s financial burdens, Deputy Haymond went out and bought the man a new pair of pants,” said Lancaster Station Spokeswoman Ali Villalobos. “It took him some time to find the man again, but when he did, he was able to give the man the new pair of pants.”
On a Facebook post, Deniss Gonzalez Ramirez said that she works in the Mojave area and she is familiar with the man pictured. “I have seen others attempt to help him and he usually refuses,” she said. “He won’t accept it unless he trusts you, so it makes me glad that he accepted help from the officer. I wish everyone looked at him and treated him like the human being [who] he is.”
