SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case information submitted by the Upland Police Department involving Tierra Ortega, the 25-year-old mother who killed one child and injured another and have filed charges.
The investigation revealed multiple assaults on each of the two children, 7-month-old Ezlynn Xariah Ortega and 17-month-old, Jerricho Ortega. Ezlynn, unfortunately, died as a result on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, and Jerricho sustained injuries when he was tossed over a 2nd-floor apartment landing. Tierra Ortega now faces one count each of Attempted Murder with an allegation of great bodily injury and Assault on a Child, Causing Death.
Tierra Ortega was set for arraignment on Thursday morning but according to court records the jail failed to transport her to court. The arraignment is continued for Friday, March 1, 2019, at 8:30 a.m.
