Hesperia Man Arrested for Threatening to Blow Up Cricket Wireless Store

HESPERIA, Calif. – A 60-year-old Hesperia man was arrested for threatening the employees at a Cricket Wireless Store on Tuesday.

Ernest Joseph Olivas walked into the store located on the 14000 block of Main Street to return a charger that he bought at that location. “ Olivas became upset when the employee would not return the charger and told the employee he was going to blow up the store,” said Hesperia Sheriff’s Spokesman Edgar Moran.  “Olivas then walked out of the store, turned around, and walked back in and told the employee “watch what happens to this place” and that he would return.”

The employee, concerned that Olivas would return and follow through with the threat called 911 to report the incident. When the deputy arrived, Olicas admitted to making the statement. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Criminal Threats. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
