GLENDALE – A mother and daughter pair were charged in connection with the hit and run death of an 81-year-old man.
On April 16th the 67-year-old Goar Davtyan and 42-year-old Alina Davtyan allegedly ran over Martiron Arutyunyan, a Glendale man as he crossed the intersection of Broadway and Belmont Street. Goar Davtyan was driving the vehicle at the time and fled the scene. Arutyunyan died as a result of his injuries.
Two days later, Alina Davtyan filed a false insurance claim attempting to repair the damage to the vehicle. While making the claim, she failed to mention her mother, the driver’s involvement in the collision. Goar Davtyan is facing one count of felony hit and run resulting in death and Alina Davtyan is charged with one felony count each of insurance fraud and accessory after the fact.
Both women appeared in court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty and are scheduled to return to court on November 1, 2016. Goar Davtyan is facing a maximum of four years in prison if convicted as charged and Alina Davtyan faces five years in jail if convicted as charged.
