WILLITS, CA. – A 23-year-old Trinidad, California woman was arrested after leaving her toddler son in her vehicle for around ten hours.
On Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at around 1:38 p.m. deputies from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department responded to Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits, California for an investigation into the death of an 18-month-old baby boy. When they arrived they learned that the toddler, identified as Chergery Teywoh Lew Mays, was rushed to the hospital by his mother, Alexandrea Raven Scott.
Scott and her young son lived in Trinidad, California and traveled approximately 150 miles so that she could visit a friend. Scott told deputies that she arrived at the home located in the 2600 block of Mitomkai Way in Willits, California at around 3:00 a.m. on June 20, 2018. Scott went inside the home and chatted with the people inside the home, while the toddler was left in the backseat of the vehicle. The vehicle stood parked in front of the home with the windows up for around 10 hours before she returned to the car. Scott’s friend drove her and her son to the hospital in the involved vehicle.
The friend then drove the vehicle back to the Mitomkai Way home while Scott stood at the hospital with her son. Witness interviews were conducted at the Mitomkai Way home. Scott was arrested for willfully causing or permitting a child to suffer great bodily injury or death. She was booked into the Mendocino County Jail and is being held without bail.
