VICTORVILLE – A Victorville woman was arrested after her child fell from a bedroom window as she slept in a bed with drugs lying next to her on Monday.
On Monday, August 14, 2017, at around 9:00 a.m. deputies from the Victorville station responded to a found child call in the 14400 block of Chamberlain Drive in the City of Victorville. The reporting party, who was a neighbor told authorities that she heard the 1-year-old girl crying and went outside to check. She said she noticed the child standing in the front yard across from her home.
“The reporting party knocked on the door to the home but no one answered,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “When deputies arrived they were able to make entry to the house and located the one-year-old girl’s mother asleep in an upstairs bedroom. Also in the bed, where the mother and child slept, deputies located narcotics and drug paraphernalia.”
Deputies believe that the toddler exited the open bedroom window, fell onto the roof below, and then fell to the ground. The toddler was taken to the hospital and fortunately only sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident. Jessica Dickey, 22, the mother of the child was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Child Cruelty and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday afternoon.
