Officer-Involved Shooting Leads to Closure of 15 Freeway Near State Line

The northbound freeway near the Nevada border was closed for several hours after an officer-involved

On Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at around 4:43 p.m.,deputies from the Barstow Station received notice that an armed and dangerous murder suspect in a silver 2017 Nissan was possibly in the Baker area. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene to check the area. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded and located the vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the northbound 15 freeway, south of State Line. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and an officer-involved shooting occurred. The unidentified male subject was determined to be dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail are conducting the investigation. Detectives are processing evidence at the scene and attempting to positively identify the suspect.

All northbound lanes of the I-15 freeway are closed at Nipton Rd. for this investigation.
