VICTORVILLE, Calif. – A traffic collision took the life of one male victim on Wednesday night.
At around 11:04 p.m. deputies from the Victorville Station and emergency medical personnel responded to the report of a two-vehicle collision on National Trails Highway south of Air Expressway. When they arrived they located gray 2010 Honda Civic and 1996 Dodge Ram 3500, both with major damage. The driver of the Honda was severely injured as a result of the collision and was airlifted to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Dodge suffered only minor injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the Honda as driving north on National Trails Highway while the Dodge was traveling south on National Trails Highway. The road was wet due to the rain. For reasons that remain under investigation, the driver in the Honda lost control at the curve in the roadway and crossed over the double yellow lines, colliding with the Dodge head-on.
National Trails Highway, north the I-15 Freeway and south of Air Expressway, was closed in both directions for several hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
