ORO GRANDE, Ca. – A 27-year-old Oro Grande man was cited for stealing water from a Silver Lakes fire hydrant, authorities said.
On Thursday, May 13, 2021, shortly after 9:40 a.m. deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded to a fire hydrant on Smithson Road in Silver Lakes. The reporting party reported that the suspect, later identified as John Espinosa, had his 3000 gallon water truck hooked up to the fire hydrant.
When en route, a deputy located the truck broken down on the shoulder of US Highway 395, near Shadow Mountain Road. Espinosa was taken into custody for theft of water, as well as an outstanding warrant for the possession of a controlled substance. He was cited and released at 8:09 p.m. on Thursday. Espinosa is scheduled to appear in court on June 29, 2021.
