PALM SPRINGS – The executive director of the Stepping Stones Learning Center in Palm Springs is accused of assaulting a 13-year-old male victim.
The incident was reported on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at around 12:11 p.m. Officers arrived at the school at 12:24 p.m. and interviewed all involved including witnesses. “We are investigating this incident and take all allegations of abuse seriously,” said Lt. Frank Browning the Investigations Supervisor. “A full investigation into what led up to the alleged abuse is underway in an attempt to hold those responsible and accountable for their actions.” No arrests have been made at this time and according to the mother of the child, the executive director is claiming the action was a result of self-defense. “Please, please, if your children attend this learning center or if you know of anyone who’s children attend, I urge you, [I] beg you, to remove them immediately,” Storey Chavira, the mother of the boy posted to Facebook on Thursday night.
The report was taken and the investigation is ongoing. The report will be submitted to the District Attorney’s office for filing consideration when complete.
