LOS ANGELES – The Canoga Park man dubbed the ‘Panty Bandit’ was sentenced to over two years in jail for multiple burglaries of lingerie stores. Between the months of January and September 2016, Carlos Oliva, 35, burglarized and attempted to burglarize 12 adult and lingerie stores in the West San Fernando Valley. Los Angeles District Attorney’s officials said that some of the burglaries were committed on the same day and some were burglarized more than once.
During the burglaries, Oliva stole women’s panties and/or adult DVD valued at thousands of dollars prosecutors said. Oliva pleaded no contest on Friday, January 6, 2017, to three felony counts of second-degree commercial burglary. He was sentenced on Friday, January 27, 2017, to two years and eight months in jail. “Oliva today also agreed to pay restitution to the victims of nine additional burglary and attempted burglary counts which were dismissed as a result of a negotiated plea,” District Attorney’s officials said.
