POMONA – A 28-year-old Pomona man pleaded no contest to the brutal murder of his girlfriend nearly two years ago.
Alexander Anthony Clever, 28 was at a hotel with his girlfriend, Yvette Silva, 35 and two others on the 2400 block of South Garey Avenue. Clever and Silva went into the bathroom while arguing.
Their friends attempted to help the Silva when they heard muffled screams and saw Clever holding her in a chokehold. They attempted to free Silva from the hold but when unable to they left to get help.
When the police arrived they found Silva in the shower with her heart and lung removed from her body. Prosecutors said she was alive when her lung was cut from her body. Clever was arrested two days later and was found with a knife that had Silva’s DNA on it.
Silva’s son was only 12-years-old at the time of her death. Clever who was on PRCS —post-release community supervision at the time of the murder, is due back in court for sentencing and is facing life without the possibility of parole.
