CARSON, Calif. – The swift and heroic actions of a deputy saved the life of a suicidal man on Friday.
At around 4:30 p.m., a Carson deputy saw a man on the ledge of the 110 overpass near Carson Street in the City of Carson. The distraught man, only moments from jumping off the approximate 30 foot overpass was quickly grabbed by the deputy who reached his hand through the railing to grab his shirt. Using his shirt, the deputy pulled him back toward the fencing.
The deputy continued to grasp onto the man’s shirt as he talked to him, attempting to encourage him to get off of the ledge. The man did not comply with the deputies pleas for him to get down. Additional deputies arrived and all working together, they were able to pull the man to safety. He was transported to a mental health center, where they will provide him with treatment and resources.
