RANCHO CUCAMONGA – A convicted felon out of jail on post-release community supervision (PRCS) was arrested after being found in possession of a stolen vehicle, officials said.
On Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at around 3:30 p.m., a deputy from the Rancho Cucamonga station conducted a traffic stop of a silver 2013 Honda Civic with paper plates in the area of Foothill Boulevard near the 15 freeway. Shawn Walter Smith, 23, of Rancho Cucamonga, the driver of the vehicle pulled over the vehicle. The deputy conducted a records check of the vehicle and learned that the vehicle was reported stolen out of the City of Fontana in October 2017.
Smith was booked into jail for the possession of the stolen vehicle, a PRCS violation, and Probation Violation. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
