SAN BERNARDINO, Ca. – A 40-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man lost his life on Friday night after being struck by a vehicle on the freeway.
On Friday, May 1, 2020, at around 8:47 p.m. the California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision on the I-215 freeway, north of 27th Street. Michael Villarreal, 45, of Colton, was driving a 2005 White Crown Victoria northbound on the I-215 when the pedestrian was walking in an easterly direction across the lanes of the northbound 215 freeway. It is unknown what speed Villarreal was driving but he struck the pedestrian. When emergency medical personnel arrived, they pronounced the pedestrian deceased.
It is not known why the pedestrian was walking in the roadway. His identity is not being released at this time, so that his family can first be notified. The collision remains under investigation, anyone with information should contact Officer R. Valadez at 909-383-4247.
