RIVERSIDE – The suspect who was involved in a sexual battery on Monday evening was arrested after a social media photo led to his identity.
At around 5:15 p.m. on Monday a woman was jogging along Mission Inn Avenue, just east of Carlson Dog Park. A Black male transient ran up to her and sexually assaulted her. The woman tried to run, but he continued to grab her. She was eventually able to leave and report the incident.
Riverside Police officials said that at some point, a bystander took a photo of the suspect and posted it on social media. Authorities were made aware of the post and were able to identify the suspect. On Wednesday, May 25, 2017, a deputy located the suspect in Rubidoux near Mission Boulevard and Mennes Avenue. The suspect, later identified as Kenneth Washington, 29, a parolee and sex offender was detained and later, positively identified by the victim.
Washington was booked into jail for sexual battery, false imprisonment, and parole violations.
