RIVERSIDE – A grocery store was saved with only an approximate $500 loss on Sunday morning Riverside City fire officials said.
At around 10:14 a.m. 16 firefighters and one chief officer responded to the India Sweets and Spices grocery store located at 9741 Magnolia Avenue. When they arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the structure. Once they entered the grocery store they noticed that a pallet of rice was on fire inside. The fire was quickly contained and the burning material was removed from the inside of the grocery store. The store was then ventilated.
No one was injured as a result of the fire, the fire is under investigation by the City of Riverside Fire Department Arson Investigators.
