RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The cause of a Riverside traffic collision which caused serious injuries to an unborn child remains under investigation.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, on Monroe Street at Copenhagen Road in the City of Riverside. Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the major-injury collision and began the investigation as a pregnant woman was rushed to the hospital due to serious injuries of her unborn child.
The initial investigation revealed that a Toyota Corolla driven by a 33-year-old Riverside man was driving southbound on Monroe Street. A gray Toyota Camry was being driven eastbound on Copenhagen road by a 24-year-old resident of Riverside. The gray Camry stopped at the posted stop sign and proceeded through the intersection making a left turn to go northbound on Monroe Street. The vehicles collided in the intersection.The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded and is currently investigating.
