VICTORVILLE – Motorists driving in the area of Nisqualli Road between Balsam Avenue and Hesperia Road should expect delays on Wednesday and Thursday Victorville City officials said. The partial road closures are a result of improvements being made to the roadway, which includes applying slurry seal, which is a low-cost yet effective treatment system to repair wear and tear to roads.
Construction crews will be out both days, on Wednesday, August 23rd, they will be working on the outside lanes of Nisqualli Road, which will necessitate the closure of those lanes. On Thursday, August 24th, the inside lanes will be closed. Motorist are encouraged to use other routes or plan for delays. Motorists are also reminded to obey all traffic signs and use caution to avoid any traffic collisions.
“The slurry seal is part of a broader road construction project that began in April to repair and reconstruct more than 9.5 miles of Victorville roadways,” city officials said in a news release. The construction crews will move on to the outside lanes of La Mesa Road between Cantina and El Rio on Friday, August 25th and will be working on Amethyst Road between Mojave Drive and Bear Valley Road from August 29th to August 31st. At least one lane in each direction will be open throughout the duration of the project. “After the slurry seal is complete, crews will apply striping to the roads in the construction area,” added City officials. “Striping will occur at night.”
The project is expected to be complete by September 10, 2017. Anyone with questions or concerns should contact the Victorville City’s Engineering Division at (760)955-5158.
