TEHACHAPI – When 38-year-old Helendale resident Robert Limon was found dead on Sunday, August 17, 2014, some suspected his wife, Sabrina
Limon was somehow involved with his murder. Robert Limon, a Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railway worker was found deceased by a worker in a BNSF Maintenance Shop building located at 1528 Goodrick Drive in Tehachapi at around 6:45 p.m. Authorities said that Limon suffered from two gunshot wounds to his head. Co-workers said that they last saw Limon at around 5:00 p.m. that same day when he left the field to return to the shop. Limon had worked with the company for 13 years out of Barstow, but he was working in Tehachapi temporarily when called upon to do so.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Department investigated the death, which was quickly determined to be murder with evidence indicating that one or more suspects waited inside the shop to murder Limon. Robert and Sabrina Limon were married for approximately 14 years and had two children at the time of his death.
Sabrina Limon was arrested on November 19, 2014, but she was later released without charges filed against her due to insufficient evidence. Jonathan Michael Hearn, a Redlands firefighter who resided in the City of Hesperia was also arrested for first-degree murder and accessory to murder with enhancements of lying in wait and discharging a firearm causing bodily harm or death. Hearn has remained in jail in lieu of $2 million bail.
The connection was not immediately clear, but detectives later learned that Sabrina Limon and Hearn had an ongoing relationship before the murder of Limon. Sabrina and Hearn, according to court documents, exchanged thousands of text messages expressing their love for each other and talking about getting Robert Limon “out of the picture” so they can live their lives together.
In July 2015, after presented with approximately 40 pieces of evidence, Kern County Judge Charles Brehmer ruled that Hearn; unless he accepted a plea deal beforehand, would stand trial. Included in the evidence was recorded evidence where Limon and Hearn were heard discussing a bible passage (from 2 Samuel 11-12) that describes David’s affair with Uriah’s wife Bathsheba and Uriah’s subsequent planned murder.
Hearn remains in jail and is awaiting trial which is set to begin on Monday, January 9, 2017, while Sabrina, until the evening of Friday, January 6, 2017, has remained free. Sabrina Limon was placed under arrest by detectives in Camarillo at around 7:00 p.m on Friday. She was transported to the Central Receiving Facility where she was booked into jail for murder, attempted murder, solicit to commit a murder, accessory, conspiring to commit a crime, and poisoning.
“Throughout the last 2 ½ years detectives have conducted an exhaustive investigation into the murder of Robert Limon,” Kern County Sheriff’s officials said. “Detectives have followed up on hundreds of leads developed during the investigation, and have interviewed numerous witnesses.” Limon is being held in lieu of $3 million bail. Limon is set to appear at a Kern County Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon.
The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information on this case they are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 661-861-3110 or Secret Witness at 661-322-4040.
