ADELANTO – A traffic collision between a Victor Valley Transit bus and a Semi-trailer truck left seven injured with the driver of the bus suffering major injuries. At around 1:35 p.m. Adelanto police, the San Bernardino County Fire Department and AMR responded to a traffic collision on Hwy 395 just north of Bartlett Avenue.

Immediately upon arrival emergency personnel requested a Mass Casualty Incident, which includes an escalated emergency response due to the number or severity of injuries. Of the seven injured, six sustained minor to moderate injuries and the bus driver suffered major injuries.

The female bus driver required extrication prior to being transported. “The bus driver wasn’t moving, everyone was freaking out on the bus,” said VVTA passenger, Nicole Fregger. “She was unconscious, she didn’t move, her eyes weren’t even open and her head was on the steering wheel.”

Two patients were taken to Desert Valley, two were taken to Victor Valley Global Medical Center, two were taken to St Mary’s Medical Center and the immediate patient was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. The driver of the semi-trailer truck was uninjured. The semi-trailer truck that was carrying a load of compost was stopped approximately 1/2 mile north of the bus near Chamberlaine Way.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation at this time. The story is still developing at this time, information will be updated as it is received. Highway 395 is shut down in both directions from Air Expressway to Chamberlaine Way until around 7:00 p.m.
