BAKER – A 54-year-old male driver was pronounced deceased after a collision on the 15 freeway north of ZZyzx Road near Baker on Friday. At around 6:25 a.m. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials said that the driver was driving a 2016 Toyota Camry southbound when for unknown reasons the vehicle drifted to the right off of the roadway and collided into a guardrail.
The vehicle continued several more feet, then colliding into a concrete culvert. Emergency medical personnel arrived and pronounced him dead on arrival. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the collision. The collision remains under investigation by the CHP Barstow area. The name of the deceased man will be released pending notification of next of kin.
