POMONA – Two were injured when a small aircraft went down on the Los Angeles County Fairground property on Wednesday evening. At around 6:41 p.m. Pomona Police responded to the Fairgrounds for the report of a possible aircraft down. “Police Dispatch did not received any phone calls regarding this, but the Police Helicopter was in the area and advised of a possible aircraft down on the property,” authorities said.
The small aircraft was located with two occupants still inside. Both sustained only minor injuries and were able to walk on their own once they exited the downed aircraft. The two were treated at the scene and released. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to address a fuel leak. It is unknown if the aircraft crashed or just landed hard on the property.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have been contacted and will conduct their investigation of this incident.
