SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – A small aircraft made an emergency landing on the freeway on Thursday afternoon, according to CHP reports.
At around 1:44 p.m. Inland CHP began receiving reports of a plane landing on the I-215 northbound north of the SR-210. When CHP officers arrived, they found the solo-piloted small aircraft that had made an emergency landing on the freeway after experiencing a mechanical malfunction.
After making the landing, the pilot was able to park the plane on a wide shoulder away from the lanes of traffic, CHP officials said. The aircraft was towed to a field so that the pilot could make arrangements with a mechanic to respond to the location. CHP took the report of the incident and also informed the Federal Aviation Administration.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
