VAN NUYS – A Van Nuys man was charged today for throwing his 70-year-old mother out a second-story window and subsequently beating the badly injured woman.
Fernando Vargas, 40, was charged with the murder of his mother, Carlota Vargas. Los Angeles County District Attorney’s officials said that on October 10, 2016, at around 2:50 a.m. Vargas got into a verbal altercation with his mother. During the argument, Fernando Vargas pushed her out the 2nd-story window, jumped out after her and then attacked her as she was lying on the ground.
Carlota Vargas was transported to the hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries. If convicted as charged, Fernando Vargas faces 25 years to life in prison.
