BARSTOW – A 26-year-old Barstow man was arrested last week for assaulting and robbing his girlfriend earlier this month. Semaj Green was arrested on Tuesday, September 20th over 2 weeks after the incident. On September 1, 2016, at approximately 11:34 p.m. police were dispatched to a home in the 16000 block of East Main Street for the report of a battery.
Through investigation, the officer learned that the victim, 21-year-old Mariana Tafoya, and Green had been dating for several months. The two started to have a verbal altercation that escalated when Green assaulted and choked Tafoya. Green also stole Tafoya’s cell phone and $200 in cash before fleeing the scene.
An area search was conducted but officers were unable to find Green. A probable cause declaration for Green’s arrest was produced and was on file at the Barstow Police Department. Finally, on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at around 7:18 a.m. Green was stopped while walking in the 1300 block of East Main Street. Green was taken into custody without incident.
