PHELAN – A female passenger was killed in a traffic collision on the 15 freeway on Sunday. Just before 3:00 a.m. Kevin Giodano, 22 of Thousand Oaks was driving a black Honda Accord southbound on the I-15 approaching SR-138. CHP officials said that as Giodano was driving approximately 80 miles per hour the Honda suddenly veered to the left, collided with an impact attenuator, causing him to lose control.
The Honda traveled in a southwesterly direction crossing all lanes ultimately colliding into the back of a semi-truck trailer that was in the #4 lane. The female passenger, a 22-year-old Thousand Oaks woman, identified as Amanda Giordano sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene at 3:15 a.m. The driver of the Honda sustained major injuries and was airlifted to a trauma center. A 2-year-old child was in the rear middle seat and was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the semi-truck, 39-year-old Jose Morales, of San Bernardino was not injured as a result of the crash.
