Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, who ran back inside his home to barricade himself. Officers surrounded the home and requested a response from the Barstow Police Department’s Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Team. Finally, the negotiations came to an end four hours later, when the suspect exited his home and was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation. The case has been sent to the San Bernardino County District Attorney Office for possible prosecution for being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
