UPDATE: The family identified the victim of the shooting to ABC 7 News as 18-year-old Luis Quintanar.
RIVERSIDE – An 18-year-old male was shot and killed just after 1:10 a.m. on Sunday. Police from the Riverside Police Department responded to a shooting in the Central Community Church parking lot in the 5600 block of Arlington Avenue.
Upon arrival, they located the juvenile suffering from the gunshot wounds. The victim was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
Through preliminary investigations, detectives learned that the victim was walking with friends when the suspect made contact with them. The contact escalated to a physical altercation during which time the suspect reached for his handgun and shot the victim.
