Texas Mother Sentenced for Beheading her Young Daughter After she Asked for Cereal

KYLE, TX. – A 27-year-old woman was sentenced to life in prison over three years following the beheading of her 5-year-old daughter and stabbing of her father-in-law.. 

Krystle Villanueva was arrested on January 5, 2017, after deputies responded to her home in Kyle, Texas in response to her 911 call stating she killed her daughter. When they arrived they found Villanueva naked in the front room of her home. Authorities said that Villanueva had just taken a shower. While searching her home, her daughter was found stabbed to death and beheaded in the bedroom. They also learned that Villanueva stabbed the child’s grandfather in his back and his head before fleeing the home.

Villanueva said that she killed her daughter because she asked for cereal but also that she believed that her daughter and father-in-law had been replaced by clones. She believed that she had to kill the clones in order for her real daughter and father-in-law to return. Villanueva shared the home with her 5-year-old daughter, husband, and in-laws at the time of the incident.

The defense attorneys encouraged the jury to find her not guilty by reason of insanity, but the jury found her guilty of capital murder of a child under 10. She was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. In addition she was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against her father in law..
