ADELANTO – A 26-year-old Adelanto man was arrested for the possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia after the vehicle he was riding in was stopped.
On Thursday, August 16, 2018, at around 12:19 a.m. a 2003 red Kia Forte was stopped for a vehicle code violation near Highway 395 and Bartlett Avenue in Adelanto. The driver of the vehicle pulled over on the side of the road, The passenger later identified as Gerrardo Vargas got out of the car and attempted to flee on foot. Vargas was quickly detained and was found to be in possession of a methamphetamine pipe in his pocket. In addition to the pipe, a plastic baggy that contained methamphetamine was located in the passenger seat where Vargas was sitting. Vargas was cited and released.
