UPDATE: 5:22 pm Mandatory evacuations on the South side of 173 between the Cedar Springs Spillway and Mojave Forks Park. There are voluntary evacuations on the North side of 173 between Cedar Springs Spillway and Mojave Forks County Fire officials said.
UPDATE: 5:33 pm According to U.S. Forest Service officials, The American Red Cross Reception and Care Center is located at the Ranchero Middle School, 17607 Ranchero Road in the City of Hesperia.
UPDATE: 6:25 pm Large animals can be trailered and stored at the San Bernardino Fair Grounds, 14800 7th Street in the City of Victorville, per CalFire officials.
UPDATE: 7:05 pm Arrowhead Lake Road closed near Hesperia Lake. Fire has moved away from SR-138.
UPDATE: 7:25 pm San Bernardino County Fire officials said the fire is still approximately 1000 acres and is 0% contained. 450 firefighters are fighting the fire. Claims of shots fired are unfounded per San Bernardino County Fire Department. Still no injuries reported as a result of the fire.
UPDATE: 7:55 pm SR-138 is open between I-15 and Hwy 18 per National Forest officials.
UPDATE: 8:05 pm Fire is still at 0% contained and approximately 1000 acres. No structures lost or damaged. Mandatory evacuations on Arrowhead Lake Road from Hesperia Lake to State Highway 173 and 173 east of Cedar Springs Spillway.
UPDATE: 9:20 pm
The Red Cross evacuation center is being moved from Ranchero Middle School to Oak Hills High School. Small animals, including dogs and cats are welcome as long as they are leashed or in a crate.

SILVERWOOD LAKE – The “Pilot Fire” had now spread to 1000 acres with no containment in sight, US Fire Service officials said. At around 3:45 p.m. the still is at 0% containment and is growing fast with the dry and hot conditions. The Pilot Fire is being fought with a 350 firefighter response including 20 engines, 5 crews, 5 dozers, 7 helicopters, 7 air tankers, including the VLAT (air tanker).
There are still no structures in immediate danger, but a few ranches have been evacuated, Fire Service Spokesman Bob Poole told a 24/7 Headline News reporter. Although an off-road vehicle fire appears to be the cause of the fire, fire officials can not confirm this until the investigation is complete.
Highway 173 is closed between SR-138 and Lake Arrowhead Road. Highway 138 is closed from Old Mill Road to Hwy 173 Forest officials said.
