VENTURA, Calif. – A Ventura man was arrested for Cruelty to an animal after shooting a compound hunting bow to kill at least one cat authorities said.
At around 3:00 p.m., on February 22, 2019, officers from the Oxnard Police Department were dispatched to the 1000 block of Yarnell Place for the report of animal cruelty that occurred on February 18, 2019.
Officers were able to obtain and review surveillance footage and identified Eric Danielson, 37, of Ventura, and another man using the compound hunting bow in an alley between two commercial buildings. In the footage, Danielson can be seen releasing his arrow. The two men walked out of the camera’s view but return with Danielson holding a dead cat and disposing of it in a dumpster.
Officers located and made contact with Danielson. During a brief conversation with him, he admitted to shooting and killing the cat. He said he “tracked” the cat but did not intend to shoot it. He was arrested for Felony Animal Cruelty. He posted a $10,000 bond and has since been released. No court dates have been scheduled at this time.
