VICTORVILLE – On the morning of Monday, May 1, 2017, deputies responded to the area of 5th and D Streets for the report of a man being chased and hit with a stick.
At around 8:00 a.m. a reporting party who was driving in the area said that a black male adult, later identified as 39-year-old Carl McKie was chasing a male victim with a wooden stick and hitting him. The two ran toward the Greyhound Station, then eventually to the AMPM where the 25-year-old victim called 911 himself. The victim told authorities that the suspect was outside waiting for him to exit the store.
Deputies and emergency medical personnel arrive shortly after and made contact with the two men. The victim was treated at the scene for a laceration to his arm and McKie was transported to the High Desert Detention Center for battery. McKie was cited and released. Victorville Sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said there is no information to explain what led up to the attack on the victim.
