VICTORVILLE – An 18-year-old Victorville resident was arrested for a vehicle versus pedestrian hit-and-run collision authorities said. On the morning of Friday, October 20, 2017, at around 7:52 a.m. deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to the intersection of Starshine Drive and Eugene Road. When they arrived they found a 51-year-old Victorville man, who was walking within the crosswalk, lying in the roadway.
The man was coherent and with the information that he and witnesses were able to provide deputies learned that he was struck by a 1991 Acura Integra that stopped only briefly before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained leg injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment and then transferred to another hospital for further treatment. Further investigations using the information provided by both the victim and witnesses led authorities to the driver and the vehicle involved. Angel Torres-Avalos was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for hit and run causing injuries.
