VICTORVILLE, Ca. – A 27-year-old Victorville man was arrested after stealing a can of beer from an AM/PM store on Monday.

Authorities said that Steven Waller was arrested at the AM/PM in the 12800 block of Hesperia Road shortly after walking into the store, grabbing a beer, and attempting to leave the store.
“An employee followed to try to get the beer back,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “Waller threatened to harm the employee then threw the full can at the employee’s head.” The employee dodged the can and was not injured as a result of the can being thrown at him. Waller began leaving but went back to grab the beer before leaving.

Deputies located him and he was arrested and booked for robbery, threatening crime with intent to terrorize, assault with a deadly weapon, and petty theft. Waller was convicted of a similar crime in August 2015, when he walked into a Vons store located in the 12100 block of Hesperia Road and attempted to leave with an alcoholic beverage and attempted to leave without paying. He assaulted the store security officer and was arrested shortly after. He was charged with Felony robbery, and misdemeanor burglary. As part of a plea agreement, Waller pleaded no contest to the burglary.

Waller appeared at the Victorville Superior court on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, where he pleaded not guilty to all charges. He is scheduled to appear in court again on January 28, 2020. Meanwhile, he is being held at the High Desert Detention Center in the City of Adelanto and is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
