FONTANA – A 34-year-old Victorville man is behind bars after attempting to meet a 16-year-old girl for sex Fontana Police officials said.
On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at around 10:00 p.m. Benjamin Kniss arrived in the area of Nuevo and Upland Avenues in Fontana for the late-night rendezvous with the teen girl.
Instead of finding the teen, he was met by detectives from the Fontana Police Department, who were aware of the planned meeting identified Kniss as he arrived.
Kniss was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for contacting a minor with the intent of sex and arranging a meeting with a minor for sex. He has since been released on bail with no court appearance dates scheduled.
Over the past two months, Fontana Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force has been conducting an investigation into adults meeting underage juveniles for sex. Fontana Police do not know if Kniss has any other victims.
