VICTORVILLE, Calif. – A Victorville area transient was arrested for stabbing a man who was allowing him to charge his phone at his house.
On Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at around 7:40 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Station responded to an apartment home located at 15564 Hesperia Road for the report of a stabbing. When they arrived they found the 35-year-old victim suffering from stab wounds to his torso. Deputies learned that the victim and his girlfriend had allowed the suspect, 27-year-old Sergio Martin Pena, to charge his phone inside their home.
Pena left the phone at the home to charge and returned around an hour later. When he returned, he went inside their home without their permission and began arguing with the victim’s girlfriend. The victim intervened and the suspect began fighting, eventually, producing a knife and stabbing the victim multiple times. Pena then fled from the location.
“Deputies began searching for the suspect. Sheriff’s Aviation assisted in the search and located the suspect hiding nearby,” said Victorville Station Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez in a news release. “Deputies took him into custody and recovered a knife and screwdriver from his pocket. He was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for attempted murder.” The victim was alert and speaking when he was transported to the hospital, there is no information about his current condition.
