VICTORVILLE – A 30-year-old Victorville woman was arrested last week for a 2012 murder of her infant child. On Monday, December 21, 2012, at around 12:19 a.m. deputies from the Victorville Station responded to a call requesting medical aid for a baby at a home in the 16000 block of Sunhill Drive. When they arrived a short time later they found the unresponsive baby boy inside the home. CPR was administered at the scene and the baby was rushed to Desert Valley Hospital where additional life-saving efforts were made. The baby boy was ultimately pronounced dead at 12:48 a.m.
The incident has remained under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail. Through an intensive investigation, the detectives determined that the baby’s mother, Tanika Collins was responsible for the death of the baby. The case was forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office for review. In January 2017, the case review was completed and an arrest warrant was issued for Tanika Collins for the death of her infant son. On Thursday, February 23, 2017, deputies from the Victorville Station located and arrested Collins. She was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for murder.
