VICTORVILLE – The 36-year-old Victorville woman killed in a two-vehicle traffic collision on Thursday evening has been identified by family.
April Evett was involved in a traffic collision on Village Drive at Eto Camino Road in the City of Victorville at around 5:53 p.m., on her way home from work. Deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded along with American Medical Response (AMR) and the San Bernardino County Fire Department to find two vehicles, a white Kia Optima and a GMC Yukon with major damage.
Evett was driving the Kia and suffered major injuries, she was pronounced deceased at the scene at 6:06 p.m. The driver of the GMC suffered major injuries and was transported to a trauma center. One passenger in the GMC was also transported to a trauma center and the other two passengers in the GMC were not injured as a result of the collision.
Deputies through investigation determined that the white Kia Optima was driving west on Eto Camino Road and the silver Yukon was driving north on Village Drive. Evett crossed the northbound lanes of Village Drive in the path of the GMC causing it to collide with the driver’s side of the Kia.
April Evett leaves behind 13 and 17-year-old sons and other family members including a mother, brother, and a sister.
The investigation is ongoing, anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy A. Ramos or Deputy A. Hylin at the Victorville Police Station.
