HAMDEN, OH. – A woman was arrested after walking into a random home, petting the family dog, and washing the dirty dishes, officials said.
On Monday, May 6, 2019, at around 9:00 a.m., deputies from the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio responded to the report of a burglary in the City of Hamden. When they arrived they spoke with a resident who said that the unknown woman went inside the home through the back door. She walked over to the couch and sat down. She then pet the family dog, washed dishes, and left the home.
The victim told authorities that the woman, who was not invited into the home was acting strangely. Deputies continued collecting information from the victim until they received a call reporting a woman, matching the suspect description was knocking on doors in the area of Omar Street. The deputy made contact with the suspect who was later identified as Cheyenne Ewing, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
Ewing initially gave the deputy a false name as she explained that she had been awake for around two days. She was arrested and booked at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail for burglary.
