BEAUMONT, Calif. – Six people are seriously injured as a result of a Beaumont traffic collision on Saturday afternoon.
At around 2:49 p.m., Beaumont Police responded to the Beaumont Avenue and 6th Street intersection for the report of a traffic collision. When they arrived they located a badly mangled 4-door Lincoln and an overturned full-size van. Through investigation, they learned that the white Lincoln was heading westbound at a high rate of speed when he drove through the red light, colliding with a the van. As a result of the impact, the van overturned.
Two sustained life-threatening injuries, three others sustained major injuries, and the driver, who was believed to be under the influence was injured as well. All were transferred to an area hospital.
The intersection of Beaumont Avenue and Sixth Street were closed for the investigation.
