BOYLE HEIGHTS – A 34-year-old South Gate woman was charged for an incident last month that killed one and injured two others at a Boyle Heights Taco Stand last month, officials said. Maribel Rosas was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury and driving with .08 percent blood alcohol content causing injury.
Rosas was charged for the June 26th incident where she was driving and suddenly crossed over 3 lanes, went over a curb and crashed into a taco stand. A man, 48-year-old Juan Mendez was killed as a result of the crash and two others were injured. Rosas is facing up to 12 years and 8 months in prison and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, July 18, 2016 for an arraignment hearing.
