Victorville Home Explodes Cause Unknown

VICTORVILLE – A 21-year-old Victorville man lost his life after his vehicle lost control in the 13400 block of Mariposa Road in the City of Victorville on Monday evening.

At around 6:05 p.m. deputies from the Victorville station and emergency medical personnel responded to the area in front of the Southwest Gas at Mariposa Road and Talpa Street for the report of a traffic collision. When paramedics arrived they found an overturned 2007 white Honda Accord with major damage and a male subject pinned underneath the vehicle.

Through investigation, it was learned that driver, Sergio Fabian Martinez was driving northbound on Mariposa Road, fleeing the scene of a previous collision near Mariposa and Nisqualli Roads. While fleeing Martinez saw a vehicle entering Mariposa Road from the Victor Villa Mobile Home Park and he swerved to avoid them causing him to lose control.

Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene. Mariposa was shut down in both directions from Yates to Nisqualli for several hours while the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) conducted the investigation.
