HESPERIA – Deputies from the Hesperia Station and emergency medical personnel responded to the Pilot Truck Stop for the report of a stabbing on Monday evening. At around 7:00 p.m. a male victim, a 34-year-old Nevada man, reported that he was stabbed by another truck driver during an altercation at the truck stop located at 8701 Highway 395 in the City of Hesperia.
When deputies arrived, they learned that the suspect, identified as Joseph Leroy, 29, of Arizona, approached the victim due to the way he had parked his truck. The two began to argue, and “the suspect produced a weapon and attacked the victim,” said Hesperia Sheriff’s Station Spokeswoman Jaclyn Chambers. The victim, who remained conscious was transported to a trauma center for the treatment of his injuries.
The suspect was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon. Leroy is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile, he is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
