Adelanto Man Suffers Major Injuries Semi Versus Sedan Crash

ADELANTO – Deputies from the Victor Valley station are investigating the cause of a collision that left a 65-year-old Adelanto man badly injured.

On Saturday, August 4, 2018, 2018, at around 7:05 p.m., deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) were dispatched to the area of CA-395 and Air Expressway in the City of Adelanto for a vehicle versus semi-tractor trailer. When they arrived they located the white 2015 Freightliner commercial truck with trailer, driven by a 31-year-old Yuba City man. Also at the location was a silver 2007 silver Saturn Ion, driven by the 65-year-old Adelanto man.

Through investigation, it was learned that the Freightliner was driving north on CA-395 south of Air Expressway. The Saturn was driving west on Air Expressway, east of CA-395. Both vehicles entered the intersection, and the Freightliner slammed into the side of the Saturn. The driver of the Saturn sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

The cause of the collision is yet to be determined, but authorities said that Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision. Anyone with any information is urged to call Deputy K.
